This project take place in a small town, called Xylokastro, approximately two hours from Athens. The duration of the EVS is one month.
The aim of the project is not only the conservation and the protection of the forest, but also to use the forest as a “window” into the natural world, helping young people gain an awareness and knowledge of the environment and their place within it.
The activities will include helping to protect the forest of Xylokastro, protect the coast, planting new trees, building new and repairing old footpaths, benches and fences in the forest, participating and organising open-air events; making researches about new and different methods about how to protect the nature. The volunteers will also participate in the work of the Information office in Xylokastro, which provides information about the Youth in Action Program.
