Description of the tasks of the volunteer:
The volunteer supports the employees with their organisational, logistic, sporty and creative duties and build up relations with pupils. Besides, the volunteer will gain good experience in dealing with children and youngsters and collect new, creative ideas. At the weekly team meetings the activities are discussed and new actions are planned.
Of course the volunteer should also introduce own proposals, ideas, abilities and his own cultural background. The volunteer will be active daily from 11pm to 16pm (friday till 19pm). ) in the open club of the school. Here he has the possibility to organise sports contests and game tournaments for the pupils, to build relationships to them and to live familiar community. Weekly the volunteer should support the Boys or Girls-Only-Workshop, with special subjects, games, sports, activities for the boys or girls. The Volunteer will be involved as a co-worker in different weekend camps, and overnight activities, and especially he will be involved in organising and arranging a 14-day Teen Camp in summer. The volunteer should introduce his country, his language and culture in the life of the school and the YMCA. With pleasure the teachers would interview him in her geography lessons.
Description of the Hosting organization:
The YMCA Kodersdorf, a Christian association, was founded at 30th of June 2008. 36 active members belong to this association. Two staff work in the school club. The main activity of the YMCA is the organisation of all activities in the club. This club belongs to the secondary school of Kodersdorf.
Our purpose is to offer a home to the pupils within school where they can feel fine and they are encouraged and get the possibility to develop their personality and talents.
In addition pupils are included in the activities of the school club.
Activity fields are found in areas of Sport (soccer, breakdance, double-dutch), games, music (drums, guitar, singing, dj-ing), organisation and logistics. With the pupils together we pursue a small cafe that is opened after the lessons partly up to the evening. On the weekends we often organise additional actions and take part in regional youth events.
