Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands
The project is in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in the Feijenoord district, one of the poorest areas of Rotterdam. It involves collaborating with various organisations in the Feijenoord area: for instance a primary school, a gym where handicapped people work out, an organisation that organises leisure activities for children and a coffee house that serves as learning company for students. You collaborate with 6 other volunteers. You live together in an apartment with 4 or 1 other volunteer(s), close to projects that you are involved in. Rotterdam is the second biggest city in the Netherlands. More than 170 different nationalities come together in Rotterdam: it is the most colourful city in the Netherlands.
You support the different organisations with various activities, like organising leisure activities for children, monitoring children during their lunch break at school, assist handicapped people when they are working out and assisting with sports activities. You meet a lot of different people and you deal with various organisations. Cleaning and tidying up are part of the daily activities.
It is important that you are open minded, show initiative, communicate easy with very different people and are flexible, so you can adapt to different circumstances. We appreciate people with a positive attitude and an interest in the social aspects of society.

A SKYPE interview will take place with various candidates. Volunteers from all countries can apply, but not the ones that need a visa, because we are not allowed to host them.
We have only 1 vacancy, because a volunteer dropped out. 1. WORK PLACEMENTS FOR TEENAGERS: we own a small shop where we produce fruit preserve and people can drink a coffee. Volunteers who are interested in food production and catering business, together with helping out pupils from special education, should apply. 2. CHILDREN: we have various activities where children are involved (like playgrounds and a primary school, a shelter for abused women/children). Volunteers interested in children, should apply. 3. PEOPLE WITH LIMITATIONS: we have several projects in which people with limitations are involved. Volunteers interested in working with people with limitations should apply. Please apply if you have an interested in one of the fields mentioned above.
We look for volunteers who have a strong (and proven) interest in doing volunteer work. Please bear in mind we will select only 1 volunteer for the project period. YOU CAN APPLY UNTIL 14th February 2016. We will need one volunteer who can drive a car. In case you have your driver’s license for more than 3 years and when you are comfortable to drive, please mention this.
