Paide Open Youth Centre is looking for 1 volunteer from DENMARK and 1 volunteer from ITALY who enjoy communicating and working with young people, supporting their ideas and also presenting initiative themselves.
Paide Open Youth Centre offers possibilities for non-formal education: trainings for young people and youth workers, work camps, workshops, special events, hobby clubs etc. There is a large open space indoors with billiard, table tennis, Wii, TV and board games for leisure time activities. In the same building there is a possibility to use sports hall and outdoors there is a new skate park that is in active use of youngsters. There is a modern kitchen for cooking workshops, model cars track, car simulator, technique workshop etc. Various activities can be planned according to the youngsters needs, interestes and wishes and local youth workers are there to support the initatives. Different activities can be started according to the volunteers interest and motivation.
The work in youth centres is divided into three main categories:
– Open youth work Volunteer will communicate directly with youngsters and spend time with them playing games, listening to music, chatting, helping with homework etc. Volunteer will help youngsters to discover their interests and will get actively involved in developing non formal educational activities with the youngsters in the youth center.
– Hobby clubs and workshops Volunteer can take part as a co-leader in different hobby clubs and workshops taking place in the youth centre or become the leader of a hobby club or a workshop according to personal interests and skills. Volunteers can teach new skills to local youth- language, music instrument crafts, outdoor activities etc. as well as learn from them.
– Events Different events and theme days like sports events, outings, information days etc. take place in and outside of the youth centre that also involve other actors/ organisations from the community. The volunteer can carry out different tasks when organizing an event, support local youth planning their events or start a totally new event him/herself if desired.
