About the Hosting Organization Find EVS Vacancy

Social Youth Development, KANE, is a non-profit organization situated in Kalamata, Greece. Our main target group is young people aged 15-30, youth workers, youth leaders, mentors and trainers. However we are also working with all the local community.

Our vision is to foster youth motivation in order to take initiatives and become more active citizens. Our mission is to provide educational and training opportunities for youth and people that work in the youth field. We also aim at fighting discrimination, fostering intercultural and social development, and promoting social inclusion and equality, particularly for young people. At organizational level, we promote cooperation among local, regional and international organizations and public bodies.

K.A.NE’s aims are to play the questioning pole of youth of the local community and to promote youth mobility through European Union. It has also created in the city of Kalamata the first YOUTH CENTRE, in order to facilitate creative socialization, promote art and culture, create educational teams through non formal education, and support active participation in social events and lifelong learning activities.

Volunteer's Tasks FindEVS Vacancy

In this project two activities are designed so as to promote the idea of volunteerism, facilitate the exchange of experiences and knowledge and the development of meaningful collaborations between youth organizations, volunteer groups, organizations that support people with special needs, cultural and social organizations and local public bodies.
Specific tasks:

– assisting in the running of the Youth Centre of Kalamata and participate in the organisation of joint events between the youth centre and other local organisations.
– The volunteers will be able to participate in the workshops, propose their own, lead a language exchange workshop and create their own initiatives.
– the volunteer in the activity A1 will support the work of the Therapeutic Horse Riding centre “Ipposhesi”
– the volunteer in activity A2 the work of the Day Care Centre for children and teenagers with autism.
