The town Weißwasser has about 17 000 inhabitants. The city is located in the north of Saxony, approximately 40 km south of Cottbus and 170 km south of Berlin. With regional trains running every hour both cities are easy to reach.
Landscape gardens as the Fürst Pückler Park in Bad Muskau, the Park in Kromlau (both reachable with a forest railway), the Findlingspark in Nochten as well as forests and cycling paths offer opportunities for leisure activities and recreation.
Weißwasser is a recognized sports city with diverse possibilities, for example: ice skating, athletics, but also dance and acrobatics. Weißwasser has an outdoor and an indoor public swimming pool, a library, a zoo, and an adult education center. An indoor water park adventure swimming pool (Erlebnisbad) is located in the neighboring town Krauschwitz, about 10 km away.
“Every child is precious. Each is a creature of God.” (Mother Teresa)
According to this principle of our educational work we see each child as a unique and distinctive individual who is endowed with special gifts, abilities, but also weaknesses.
In our Protestant daycare centre children learn that God accompanies them in their life and that he wants to bring them to a full development of their capabilities.
Therefore we work with the situational approach, according to which each child is an actor of his or her own development.
We want the children to learn to form their everyday life and get involved in the community.
A child needs the skills to be able to act in different situations in life.
In our educational work we always have in view the four skills children need to master their future life well. These are:-social skills, personal skills, professional skills, learning skills
Our daycare center is the oldest one in the city of Weißwasser and was extensively renovated in recent years. Since 1930 it has been located in the part of the town which is called “Old Village” (“Altes Dorf”).
Currently 6 pre-school and kindergarten teachers take care of 44 children in 3 groups aged between 1 and 6. They work in close contact with the families.
The volunteers assist the group teachers in the daily routine, support projects based on the church year or support the sport time or constructive science education of the children.
