Would you like to work in a dynamic and international team? Are you ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery? Then an EVS year at Grüner Grashalme.V. could be the perfect opportunity for you! Our Team is looking for two volunteers (one from Poland and one from Romania) willing to share our passions and contribute to our activities.
The organization was established by environmental activists in 1990 in Wismar. Since 1994 ,the main focus of the organization has been experiential and outdoor educational youth work. Through its outdoor education projects, Grüner Grashalm e.V. promotes inter-cultural understanding and cooperation, and provides young people from the local region with opportunities to participate in international proejcts. For the last 25 years we have been organizing training seminars, youth exchanges and adventure projects in Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, France, and Germany. We develop team building skills, communication methods and integration strategies through outdoor and experiential education. Our activities include climbing, rafting, hiking, skiing, biking as well as music, theatre and dance.
We are looking for people aged 18-30 with at least basic volunteer experience (local volunteering, scouting, community service etc). Basic English and German is required. We also expect from applicants:
– Experience/interest in outdoor activities
– Experience/interest in outdoor education and pedagogy
– A willingness to learn and to leave the ‘comfort zone’
– The desire to live for 12 months in Fahren (the small village where our organisation is based) and to helm maintain the organisation’s equipment and building (including manual work)
– the motivation to develop language proficiency in both English and German
– A desire to work in an international team
– The desire to work with diverse target groups, including young people with migration and/or refugee backgrounds and young people who are differently abled (with mental or physical disabilities)
– Multimedia proficiency (video editing/web design etc) are welcomed but not essential
