Volunteer's Tasks 2 FindEVS Vacancy

The volunteer will assist in the Administrative Department of Wild Futures Monkey Sanctuary, working closely alongside the PR and Fundraising Team. The days will start with monkey care, cleaning feeding and creating enrichment items for the resident primates. The volunteer may also teach newer volunteers primate duties such as food bowls and routine. They will also be asked to assit in the café and children’s workshops. After a month, this work will stop and the volunteer will focus in the administration part of the Sanctuary. Tasks here will include generating positive media coverage for all charity events, activities and programmes. They will aid with the adopt a monkey scheme including putting packs together, and updating adopters details on the fundraising database. Other taks include compiling thank you letters via the fundraising database when required and assist in putting together the annual Supporters’ Day event in May. Volunteers will learn how to answer phone calls and reply to emails in a professional manner. The volunteer will also learn about the current welfare issues surrounding primates and conduct public talks to the visiting public as a way to educate those who attend in the opening months. The volunteer will have the opportunity to assist with our Keeper For A Day and Children’s Keeper For A Day events as an additional means to interact with the local people. Occasional desk work such as admitting visitors into the site, may be required. Volunteers are encouraged to take up a small project whilst on placement and we encourage volunteers to make a portfolio or write a weekly journal of their time here, although this is not compulsory. Together we aim to develop a program that will be suitable for both the volunteer and ourselves
