!! UK Monkey Sanctuary looking for volunteer to join their Maintenance Team for 12 months !!
We are looking for one volunteer (EU countries only) to join our Maintenance Team at Wild Futures Monkey Sanctuary, Looe, Engalnd. The volunteer will assist in the repairing of monkey enclosures, building new monkey enclosures, fixing and repairing aspects of the house and grounds, and developing sustainable techniques on site.
We are looking for a volunteer that has already got some carpentry or building skills as this will mean they will get the most out of the project.
The volunteer will assist in the Maintenance team of Wild Futures Monkey Sanctuary. For the first month mornings will begin with monkey care, cleaning feeding and creating enrichment items for the resident primates. Afternoon’s tasks will include designing, developing and maintaining the Sanctuary infrastructure alongside the other members of the Maintenance team. In addition the volunteer will contribute to Wild Futures sustainability mission. This currently includes a biomass heating system, solar panels, water capture, recycling and site wildlife management. Options include promoting this ethos to our supporters and visitors, by designing and implementing recycling displays and interactive workshops. In addition to improving our heating and water systems through prevention of heat loss through loft spaces of monkey bedrooms. As well as producing new and innotive ideas to develop and expand the sustainability aspect of the Sanctuary. Volunteers are encouraged to take up a project whilst on placement and we also encourage them to make a portfolio or write a weekly journal, although this is not compulsory. The weekly program is just an example and will be subject to change as the volunteer gets to know us and we get to know the volunteer. Together we aim to develop a program that will be suitable for both parties
