We are searching Polish citizen or Foreigner living in Poland with residance permit to participate in EVS project in Portugal in organization ProAtlantico, where he or she will cooperate with kids, youth, elderly and disabled people

About the Hosting Organization

roAtlântico – Associação Juvenil is a non-profit youth organisation, founded in 2001 in Oeiras Council, based in Vila Fria (Porto Salvo) and carries out projects that aim the occupation of free time at the same time that gives the chance to young people to promote their active participation by taking part in European youth projects and in local voluntary activities.
ProAtlântico develops its work based in partnership with local Social Care organisations like Foster Homes, Support Centers for People with Disabilities, Senior Daily Centers offering the chance to their target groups to take part in the projects.

ProAtlântico started to develop activities in a local level like sports tournaments, National and International exchanges, Summer Camps, Youth Centre, entertaining and cultural activities, animation of school breaks and as educational support after school for children and young people. Soon, came the challenge to work with seniors and with people with disabilities in Summer Camps, New Year’s Eve, cultural trips and weekend leisure time activities.

In 2003, ProAtlântico started to work with Youth Programme and since then offered the chance to hundreds of young people to take part in several youth exchanges, training courses and seminars around Europe and soon after became a coordinator of youth exchanges in Portugal.

ProAtlântico is a sending, receiving and coordinating organisation in EVS that hosted and sent volunteers from different regions of the world: Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. Since 2007, ProAtlântico actively promotes Youth in Action Programme mainly about Youth Exchanges and EVS among young people in schools.

The team is composed by 5 full time workers: 1 journalist, 1 social animator, 1 graphic designer, 1 communication & marketing professional and 1 economist and some temporary workers that give administrative support. The work of the organization is also supported by hundreds of volunteers that participate in local and international projects and also ex-EVS volunteers that support the team of ProAtlântico in the frame of EVS. In order to run the projects, ProAtlântico coordinates a voluntary bank with hundreds of motivated young volunteers.

Today ProAtlântico – Associação Juvenil with his 10.000 members, gives special attention to people with fewer opportunities to have the chance to easily access to leisure time activities carried out by young volunteers and promote the value of volunteering and active participation in society.

Volunteer's Tasks 2 FindEVS Vacancy

Volunteers tasks:
The volunteers usually will help the staff in the preparation of cultural,leisure and recreational activities for the users of the centers.Volunteers will cooperate with several organisations and target groups from the community:schools,foster homes,youth centres,Senior daily centres,institutions for people with disabilities.

The main goal is to find connection by volunteers between the elderly and children/youth.To support common activities of those two groups,to create a healthy environment, and open the horizons of the community,especially children,young people and elderly.All volunteers will perform the same activities in those 4 ROs

In the frame of these activities,volunteers will be involved as following:

1.SENIOR and YOUTH Centers
-common elderly-youngsters handicrafts,dance games,gymnastics,workshops
-activities during holidays and related to special events(ex:Christmas theatre play,build Carnival masks,trips,birthday parties religious events) where elderly and youngsters will be able prepare and spent time together
-creation and implementation of daily activities of the Youth Centre:theatre,dance,sports,music and inclusion in preparation seniors who can bring added value to prepared together activities
-Senior Academy: painting, decorative arts, tapestry, embroidery, jewellery,philosophy, astrology, mathematics, languages,creative writing, photography, nutrition, music, instruments, singing, oriental dances, ballroom dancing,theatre, meditation, yoga, pilates, etc.
-Residence:help in the residence to welcome young and elderly foreigners during non-academic periods so that they can learn from our young and old,thus enhancing an exchange of experiences and knowledge.
-work with kids from different ages from babies to young people
-give school support to children/young people with more difficulties-common help of youngsters who finished their shools relatively recent and elderly who have life experience can bring a great impact to kids who need help
-assist on computers use-elderly people will gain a lot thankfully common computer lessons provided by youngsters
-accompany children in external activities like go to the beach, Zoo-common activities where youths from Youth center and Elderly people will be guardians of the kids during trips
-parties and special events/intercultural activities
-Youth center actvities for fewer opportunities youngsters – local community or immigrants or ethnic minorities (African, Chinese, East Europe or Roma communities)-creation and implementation of a calendar of daily activities as games,group dynamics, workshops,handicrafts,theatre,give school support

2.SCHOOL SUPPORT
-Promotion of games and activities during the school breaks
-Give support to the teacher inside classes,helping the children to do exercises(specially those with special needs)
-Help the students to do homework or to study some specific subject
-Promote creative workshops like painting,singing,dancing,theatre,sports,etc.
-Take part in school events like: Parties: Christmas, School birthday, Farewell, Sports Week, Intercultural Week, etc.
-Going out of the school in study visits with the children/young people and teachers
-Participate in school clubs related to:Europe,Sports,Theatre,Dance

3.RESIDENCE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES and MENTAL ILNESS
-therapeutic,rehabilitative and leisure time activities (traditional games, newspaper, playroom as well as crafts: ceramics painting,decorating workshops or visits to places of interest:museums, cultural activities, art galleries)
-sports activities(boccia,water adapted activities)
-recreational activities(tours,walkings)
-teaching clients to use of public services and/or public transport

4.FOSTER HOME
-work with kids from different ages from babies to young people
-leisure time activities for the young people,mainly on the period after school until dinner time
-parties and special events/intercultural activities
-organisation of the house and separate offers from the local community
-help in external activities

5.OFFICE SUPPORT
-help the team with administrative tasks
-make contacts with partners to establish partnerships
-edit the webpage,create flyers and posters,
-take photos of the activities,make promotional videos
-Logistic Support:in Summer Camps,New Year’s Eve,sports tournaments,cultural activities(pic-nics, festivals),TCs and YEs

The working methods used will be always non formal education like group dynamics,conversations,cultural visits,internet research, presentations about different subjects,drawing,singing,body expression,dancing,cooking,active participation in the receiving organisations activities,games,workshops,take pictures/record videos, meetings etc

There are not any specific requirements regarding volunteers’ profile set by the Receiving Organization. The profile of the volunteer will have general requirements: proactive, motivated to work in a social housing environment, with sense of responsibility, like to work in a team, flexible, with handwork skills, with communication ability, mature to work with social and economic disadvantaged community,with basic knowledge of English; aware of the kind of project thery are going to attend and of the local community, social environment and town in which they will live, with a true interest in the other cultures and good motivations on the contests of the project, and some commitment, professionalism, in order to make more efficient the experience of volunteering.As well, we ask a certain amount of flexibility, adaptability and patience especially in the first period of the project but also then as they will cooperate with fewer opportunities groups (elderly and disabled people, migrants youngsters etc) Volunteer’s CV in Europass format and motivation letters will be send to the receiving organizations and after the communication established with the volunteer, coordinatore are going to express theirs intention and interest for hosting.

Extra Informations:
The ACCOMODATION will be provided by ROs. ProAtlantico is going to provide accommodation always shared with other volunteers.RO will provide towels and bed clothes in the beginning of the project. The accommodation might host local volunteers,Erasmus/Leonardo da Vinci students,etc. and the volunteer will share his/her bedroom.The legal silence time must be followed in order to respect the sleeping time of neighbours. From Sunday till Thursday the silence must be respected between 11 pm and 8 am and from Friday till Saturday is from 12 am till 9 am. Host guests and Couch Surfing is not allowed.

The volunteers will work about 35 hours per week and they will have 2 days off per week and 2 days off per month.
The role of the volunteers will be cooperate with the members of the association.A typical day of the volunteer starts at 10:00 am. The engaged ROs will make volunteers do a rotation with the other in order to let them work alternately in each of their activities.In this way it will be avoid a sense of fixed habits which could have a negative impact in their work, and at the same time their formative-learning process will be more complete.The objective of our association is to offer to volunteers a training and growth path through EVS.

Volunteers will recieve from ROs the POCKET MONEY (100 EUR per month) andProAtlantico will provide FOOD or the volunteers will receive also 150,00 EUR at the beginning of each month.
the volunteers have also covered partly the travel costs in both ways, in amount of 360,00 EUR per person.
